There's a version of Australia you hear on the news - press conferences, polished statements, carefully managed narratives. Then there's the real one. The one buried in contracts, donations registers, and FOI documents nobody wants you to read.
That's where we work.
What we do
We track where the money goes. Government contracts, political donations, immigration detention spending, infrastructure rorts - if public money is involved, we're pulling on the thread. Every claim we publish is backed by documents: FOI releases, corporate filings, government tender records, leaked materials. Not vibes. Not "sources say." Paper.
How we work
- Documents first - we don't run a story without primary source evidence. Period.
- Right of reply - if we're writing about you, you'll hear from us before it goes live. Every time.
- Show your working - when we use data, we show where it came from and how we analysed it.
- Correct the record - if we get something wrong, we say so clearly and fix it fast.
Who's behind this
One journalist. No board. No investors. No advertising department to keep happy. The Untold Truth is funded out of pocket and built on the belief that investigative journalism shouldn't need a media empire behind it - just time, documents, and the willingness to ask uncomfortable questions.
